DOORS®
DOORS® (Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System) is Telelogic's flagship product, and is the world’s leading requirements management tool. DOORS® enables project teams to deconstruct all types of documents, filtering out the true requirements from the guidance and 'nice to have' statements which commonly obscure what the customer really wants. The DOORS® database enables these requirements to be organised in a logical structure. By feeding this back to the customer, the true requirements can be identified at the start of the programme. Too often in the past, hidden requirements were missed and only emerged later on, resulting arguments and recriminations.
DOORS® allows traceability of requirements throughout the whole system, so that for example if the customer requires a requirement change to a subsystem, the consequences of that change can be easily seen. An impact analysis and cost-benefit analysis can be carried out for proposed changes. The smallest change can so often lead to an enormous cost.
The requirements database focuses project teams on the issue of acceptance; i.e. how to demonstrate to the customer that the project has been successfully achieved. The need to demonstrate acceptance, and above all the cost of demonstrating acceptance are crucial issues, often glossed over at the start of a project.
DOORS® also enables project managers to track progress.
The requirements database enables project managers to derive a logical work breakdown structure with better control of progress and costs, and clearer assignment of project responsibility. Earned Value Management techniques can be more easily applied to projects which have a logical work breakdown structure and clear lines of responsibility.
Moreover, tracks all changes that are made, date-stamps them and records who made the change.

Sollerta and DOORS®
Telelogic has found that its clients require more than a straight purchase of the product itself; they need to be up and running as quickly as possible. Clients therefore welcome advice on how to use DOORS® and assistance in populating the DOORS®; database. Sollerta offers expert advice on the use of DOORS® in the Client's project and the resulting project management issues. Sollerta will also carry out requirements capture using the documentation supplied by the Client and facilitate discussions on the requirements structure and the implications on the project. Sollerta therefore provides initial guidance on how to use the product until the project team are familiar with all the operations, or for as long as the project manager requires.
